Description

Part 1 of the 3-part book series.

J. Krishnamurti (1895-1986) has been called an educator, a philosopher, a spiritual teacher, but in reality he cannot be limited to any of these descriptions. Speaking to millions of people in his lifetime, Krishnamurti adamantly rejected any role as an authority, leader, or guru, precisely because he saw that this was a major impediment in people finding the truth for themselves.

Commentaries on Living, a three-volume series, records Krishnamurti's meetings with earnest individuals from all walks of life who came to him seeking answers to their questions. The breadth of Krishnamurti's teachings is revealed over the course of these compassionate and penetrating conversations. Several chapters are prefaced by Krishnamurti's inspired descriptions of his ever-changing surroundings, imparting a deep awareness of the moment and setting the tone for the discussion to follow.

"Conflict is the denial of what is or the running away from what is; there is no conflict other than that. Our conflict becomes more and more complex and insoluble because we do not face what is. There is no complexity in what is, but only in the many escapes that we seek." - J. Krishnamurti

A deep book divided into manageable parts March 23, 2014
Reviewer: James Shilleto from El Cerrito, CA United States
K. observes common situations from an uncommon deep perspective. He quickly goes to the heart of things and never avoids the bare truth in favor of what one wants to hear.

I appreciate the short topics devoted to a single situation since sometimes I feel that is just what I can manage.
